A Community That Stands Together: The Mission Behind Sierra Vista’s Stand Up 4 Freedom Street Fair
The Mission Behind Sierra Vista’s Stand Up 4 Freedom Street Fair
Every town has its traditions, but in Sierra Vista, we have something more—a purpose-filled movement disguised as a street fair.
The Stand Up 4 Freedom Street Fair, now in its third year, is more than an event. It’s a powerful display of patriotism, unity, and community commitment. Held each year on the Saturday before the 4th of July, this event lights the spark for Independence Week here in Cochise County—starting not with fireworks, but with heart.
Where Red, White, and You Come Together
On Saturday, June 28th from 4 to 9 PM, the alley between Doc’s Watering Hole, Punchy’s Tavern, and the Warrior Healing Center comes alive with energy. Over 70 vendors line the path, bringing food, crafts, local products, and a whole lot of spirit. Add in live music, contests, and a Kids Zone, and you've got a full-blown celebration of what makes our town special.
But there’s more behind the tents and tunes.
Every booth, every dollar, every laugh shared at the pie-eating contest goes back to supporting veterans across Cochise County. All proceeds from the fair help fund critical services through the Warrior Healing Center—things like mental health programs, VA navigation, and peer-to-peer outreach that often mean the difference between surviving and thriving for our local veterans.
A Day Full of Fun—with a Deeper Purpose
Whether you're racing in the Patriotic 5K Fun Run earlier that morning or just showing up for a slice of pie and some music, you're playing a role in something bigger.
Here’s what to expect this year:
🇺🇸 Patriotic 5K Fun Run (7–11 AM) – Start your morning with a run that gives back.
🎯 Cornhole Tournament – Compete for glory and bragging rights.
🍉 Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest – A fan favorite that's equal parts silly and serious competition.
🎨 Kids Zone – With face painting, games, and family-friendly fun.
🥧 Pie Eating Contest – Enough said. Bring your appetite.
🛍️ Vendor Competitions – Local businesses go all-out to decorate their booths and support the cause.
Last year, the fair raised over $15,000, and we aim to do even more this year. That money helped us serve hundreds of veterans, from job navigation and benefits guidance to simply creating a safe, welcoming place to connect.
Why It Matters
As a veteran myself and someone who works daily with our local veteran community, I’ve seen firsthand what this kind of support can do. It’s not about handouts—it’s about standing shoulder to shoulder with those who’ve served and showing them their community hasn’t forgotten.
Sierra Vista doesn’t just thank its veterans—we fight for them. And every person who joins this event becomes part of that mission.
Whether you're a business owner looking to connect, a volunteer wanting to give back, or a family looking for something meaningful to do—this fair is for you.
How to Get Involved
We’re still accepting sponsors and volunteers for this year’s event. If you want to be part of something real, something local, and something that changes lives—we want you there.
